Universal Epic Universe opened in 2025 to a huge amount of interest! Its locker rules are similar to the other Universal parks but a little different. In particular, some rides require you to store your belongings before boarding, so knowing the rules in advance makes your visit much easier. Today I’ve summarized the locker rules you need to know at Epic Universe.
1️⃣ Some rides require you to use a locker
These three attractions require you to use a free locker before riding:
- Monsters Unchained
- Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
- Stardust Racers
Examples of items you need to store:
- Bags
- Phones
- Hats
- Sunglasses
- Wallets
- Coins
=> Basically, assume almost anything that isn’t attached to your body has to go in the locker.
2️⃣ Lockers open with face recognition
Epic Universe has upgraded how its lockers work, too. At the other Universal parks, lockers used:
- Scanning your park ticket
- A paper QR code
At Epic Universe, they use a face-recognition system instead. Once your face is scanned when you enter the park, you can open your locker with face recognition, no ticket needed.

The lockers have a double-sided (mirrored) design that opens from both sides: you put your belongings in before the ride → and collect them from the other side afterward.
3️⃣ The lockers are bigger than before
At the other Universal parks, the lockers were small, and often even a regular backpack wouldn’t fit. Epic Universe’s lockers, however, are:
- Square (roughly 30 cm × 28 cm × 33 cm)
- Larger in capacity
They’re big enough that you can even fit two people’s things in one locker.
4️⃣ Stardust Racers has stricter security
Stardust Racers, a roller coaster with intense turns and speed, has stricter security. After using the locker, you’re checked with a metal detector to make sure you have nothing on you.
- Phones
- Keys
- Anything in your pockets
All of these must go in the locker.
⚠️ Note!! Don’t forget to store everything so you don’t get caught at the metal detector and have to go back to the lockers!!
5️⃣ There are also paid large lockers
There are also large lockers for guests carrying a lot of stuff. They’re located near the Celestial Park entrance.
Prices (as of recently):
- Medium locker: about $15
- Large locker: about $20
The large lockers can hold:
- Suitcases
- Coolers
- Large backpacks
That’s my rundown of the lockers you’ll use for rides at Epic Universe! As a new park, Epic Universe offers bigger lockers than the other Universal Orlando parks. And since they unlock with face recognition, there’s no risk of losing a locker ticket, which takes the stress out of it. Have a great trip to Epic Universe!
