Shanghai Disneyland in Winter: Day 2 Zootopia Itinerary and Wait Times
- The app showed 50 minutes for Zootopia entry, but following the shorter lines got me in within 30
- The 98-yuan big donut is a perfect Zootopia photo prop, Clawhauser's signature snack
- Soaring took a 70-minute wait for the same film as the US and Japan, so skip it if you've ridden it

In this post I’m sharing day 2 of my Shanghai Disneyland trip! On day 1 I focused on thrill rides, parades and fireworks, and on day 2 I took it easy and focused mainly on the Zootopia land.
I’ve laid it out in detail based on the actual order I did things and the wait times I had.
※ For reference, I didn’t buy DPA (Disney Premier Access, the paid skip-the-line pass) and still enjoyed the park at a relaxed pace over two days.

8:20 #1 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (about a 40-minute wait)

A roller coaster themed to the Seven Dwarfs’ mine. Like TRON, it’s a thrill ride and always popular, so I did it at rope drop.
It got thrilling from the section after the Seven Dwarfs appear, and the mine cars sway slightly from side to side, which made it even more fun. 🎵 There’s a section where the ride pauses briefly while the Heigh-Ho! song plays – it’s even more fun if you enjoy the swaying there.
9:10 Entering the Zootopia land (about a 30-minute wait)
The app showed a 50-minute wait, but I watched the crowd and moved toward the shorter line, so I got in in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the Zootopia entry line doesn’t have a clear queue path, so 👉 it’s important to watch where the shorter lines are moving and move quickly.
As soon as I got in, I went to ride the Zootopia attraction right in front of me.
9:40 #2 Zootopia: Hot Pursuit (about a 60-minute wait)

The queue is so well themed that I was looking around the whole time, and even a 60-minute wait felt much shorter.

The indoor queue area
On the day of Gazelle’s concert, prisoners break out of jail, and you become a rookie officer chasing them. It was in Chinese, so I couldn’t follow the exact story, but the ride itself is so immersive that I still enjoyed it a lot.
10:50 Buying the big donut 🍩
Using the big donut as a prop is perfect for Zootopia photos. It’s Clawhauser’s signature, so it fits the Zootopia vibe perfectly. The big donut costs 98 yuan (about 20,000 won) and tastes like a chocolate cream donut. I liked it, but if you’re not a fan of bread you may not. But I couldn’t miss it for the photos…!

11:30 Watching the Zootopia show
There’s a short show where animal characters appear in the windows. A lot of people walk right past it because they’re busy taking photos elsewhere, but I recommend sitting on the planter ledge out front to rest and wait for it. From what I saw, it seemed to run every 30 minutes.

That wrapped up my time in Zootopia, and I moved on to Fantasyland. For more detailed tips on Zootopia entry, photo spots and more beyond this trip report, check out the post below~!

11:40 #3 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (about a 20-minute wait)

A ride where you sit in a honey pot and travel into Pooh’s world. It’s the same as at Disneyland parks in other countries, so if the wait is long, it’s fine to skip it.
12:10 Hunny Pot Spin (about a 15-minute wait)

A spinning teacup-style ride. The wait wasn’t long, so it was nice to hop on.
12:30 #4 Alice in Wonderland Maze (walk-in)

Many people walk right past this area, but it’s quiet, which makes it a really great spot for photos with the castle in the background.

You can get photos with the castle here without the crowds
If you want to take photos at a relaxed pace, be sure to stop by.
13:00 #5 Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration (walk-in)

I bought popcorn at the entrance and went straight in. At Walt Disney World in the US the show is mostly video, but in Shanghai live performers appear from the very start, and the singing and staging were good, so it was much more worth watching. (The only drawback: the songs are in Chinese.)
15:20 Santa Goofy character greeting 🎅

Goofy in a Santa outfit, only available during the Christmas season. If you’re visiting at this time of year, be sure to meet him!
15:35 #6 Pixar Adventurous Journey

An exhibit space themed to Pixar films. It’s great for photos and full of cute details, so it was fun to look around.

16:00 Stitch game booth

There’s the same game in Toy Story Land, but this one had fewer people, so I could play right away. There are no losing tickets:
- 1st prize: a large plush
- 2nd prize: a pin lanyard
- 3rd prize: a pin
I played one round for 35 yuan (about 7,400 won), got 2nd prize, and won a pin lanyard. I happened to need a pin lanyard, so I was really happy!
16:10 Spider-Man greeting (about a 20-minute wait)

The waiting area is indoors, so it’s a good place to escape the cold or the heat. The space is dark, though, so photos don’t come out well, which was a shame.
17:00 #7 Camp Discovery area (Adventure Isle)

This area has lots of activities, but it was cold and getting dark, so I just took a quick look around.

I bought a kimchi beef wrap (75 yuan, about 15,000 won) nearby. It was big and tasty – plenty for a full meal.
17:20 #8 Soaring Over the Horizon (about a 70-minute wait)

A ride where you hang-glide over places all around the world. Soaring in China seems to have especially long waits, and I think it’s because the safety checks when boarding – seatbelts, bag storage and so on – are very thorough.
It’s the same as the versions in the US and Japan, so it didn’t feel very fresh, and the queue is plain, so the wait felt especially tough. If you’ve already ridden it in another country, I recommend skipping it or going when the wait is short.
19:25 #9 Voyage to the Crystal Grotto (about a 30-minute wait)

A boat ride that passes underneath the castle. It’s mostly ordinary statues and fountains, which was a bit disappointing, but the experience of passing beneath the castle itself felt magical.
My original plan was to re-ride TRON and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during the fireworks, when the lines get shorter, but after the long wait for Soaring I was worn out, so Voyage to the Crystal Grotto was my last attraction before leaving the park.
That’s my report on making the most of two days in the park. For the tips I picked up after visiting Shanghai Disneyland, check out the separate post below.
